Forecast issued by the Met Office on behalf of UKHSA on Friday, 29, August, 2025 at 07:09

Overview of hot weather over the next 5 days

Unsettled, wet and windy conditions expected. Heavy thundery showers and bands of rain with strong winds at times. Any drier and brighter spells will allow temperatures to remain around the seasonal average, with Low-impact temperature thresholds not expected to be breached.

Overview of hot weather over the next 6 to 15 days

Brief spells of high pressure remain possible, though the overall theme is for further successive low pressure systems to arrive from the Atlantic. This will allow for mostly wet weather and around climatologically average temperatures, with Low-impact temperature thresholds not expected to be breached.

Overview of hot weather over the next 16 to 30 days

During the second half of September, high pressure patterns become slightly more likely than low pressure patterns, particularly in the south. Probably becoming increasingly fine and dry, though with some wetter interludes, particularly in the north. Temperatures should remain near normal, perhaps slightly above average, though given the time of the year, there is only a chance of reaching Low-impact temperature thresholds.
