The Local Government Association, working with the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) and the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG), is running a short project to improve how central and local government coordinate during cyber incidents affecting local authority commissioned adult social care providers.

The project will produce practical national guidance for English local authorities, setting out how coordination and communication will work during these incidents – including who to contact, what information will be shared, and how two-way engagement will operate. For clarity and usability, the focus is on one defined part of the adult social care supply chain: local authority commissioned care providers (for example, of home care, residential care and respite care).

To ensure the guidance reflects providers’ real-world experience, Digital Care Hub is supporting the project by arranging a workshop to explore:

  • How cyber incidents are experienced in practice
  • What actions providers typically take
  • What support or communication providers may need from councils and central government

Although the guidance is primarily for local authorities, provider insight is essential to ensure it is rooted in realities on the ground for providers.

Workshop Webinar:
04 March 2026 10:00-11:30.

Why take part?

Your input will directly shape national guidance used by local authorities across England, ensuring it reflects the real operational challenges adult social care providers face during cyber incidents.
