UKHSA has advised that Care Homes in South West London should be aware of a current Listeria outbreak. This outbreak has affected patients aged 65-89 and has been linked to three mortalities as of 14/03/2025. The infection manifests in illness including severe gastrointestinal symptoms, fever, chills, and headaches. The Listeria monocytogenes cluster has been attributed to chocolate and vanilla mousse and a strawberry and vanilla mousse from Cool Delights, pending further investigation.
It is advised that no desserts from Cool Delights are served within social or health care settings pending the results of the corresponding UKHSA investigation. This is especially important for high-risk individuals who are immunocompromised. Further details can be found in the attached publication. Should you require any further guidance, please contact your local IPC team or Debbie Calver via debbie.calver@swlondon.nhs.uk
