Sutton Community Fund

Sutton Community Fund is a grants funding programme, financed by Sutton Council and administered by Community Action Sutton. It supports small and community focused projects that benefit Sutton residents.

Changes to the criteria of the Sutton Community Fund and how you can apply

The Sutton Community Fund supports start-up/seed funding for community groups to deliver local initiatives to help people with the cost of living crisis over the winter months.

• Applications for grants up to a maximum of £1,000 will be accepted.
• Voluntary or Community Groups based in Sutton which could include faith groups, friends of school’s groups, registered charities, community interest companies
• Businesses and other for-profit organisations will not be eligible
• Groups must have an organisational bank account, funding will not be provided to individuals.
• Proposals must be delivered within 6 months of receipt of the award.

Ideas include, but are not limited to;

• Starting up a community food cupboard, fridge or community lunch or dinner events
• Supporting the community to access free clothing, white goods, furniture (e.g. help to collect and drop off free items, community swap shop events)
• Offering a free service to the community to help reduce household bills such as access to a washing machine or tumble dryer, appliances to heat food etc
• Setting up a ‘warm and welcoming space’ or ‘community living room’ (please check local library opening times and the warm welcome UK map in case there is already one of these in your area)

The Proposals will be reviewed on a first come first served basis as part of a rolling programme. In order to make sure the funding is distributed in a phased way up to 31st March 2023, approximately 10 proposals that meet the criteria will be agreed per month.
