The Worshipful the Mayor, Councillor Trish Fivey, on behalf of the London Borough of Sutton, expresses her deep sadness on the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
“Queen Elizabeth II served this nation dutifully for over 70 years. Our sadness at this time is shared by people across the globe as we remember with affection and gratitude the lifetime of service given by our longest-reigning Monarch.
“Upon her visit to The Royal Marsden Trust in Sutton in 1963, she left a huge impression on the newly-established hospital and its staff.
“Flags at the Civic Offices in Sutton have been lowered to half-mast as a mark of respect and on behalf of the people of Sutton we pledge our support to her Successor, King Charles III.
“Thank you.”
Statement from the Leader of the Council, Councillor Ruth Dombey

The London Borough of Sutton mourns with the Royal Family for what is a loss for the United Kingdom and the wider Commonwealth of Nations. Over the coming days, we will support residents in paying their respects in an appropriate way.”
