Medication Awareness webinar (Home Care and START): 5 May

Updated guidance: Protecting care home residents during COVID-19
The new summary outlines the changes to the ‘Admission and care of residents in a care home during COVID-19’ as of 24 February 2022. Changes made:
- Updated to reflect the government has committed to provision of free COVID-19 PPE to the adult social care sector until March 2023 (or until the guidance on PPE usage for COVID-19 is either withdrawn or substantially amended)
- Updated to reflect the removal of the legal requirement for people with COVID-19 to self-isolate in line with government’s approach to living with COVID
Easy-read guidance for Supported Living and Extra Care

Updated guidance: Supporting families and visitors visiting care homes
Updated guidance (15 March) has been published setting out how care homes can support families and visitors to visit residents. Change made:
- Updated section 1.3 to reflect regulations revoking vaccination as a condition of deployment came into force on 15 March 2022
- People working or volunteering in care homes are no longer required to have received a COVID-19 vaccine to enter the premises
Guidance for people with COVID-19 and their contacts
The UK Health Security Agency added a new easy-read guide for people with COVID-19 and their contacts. It also applies to children and young people who usually attend an education or childcare setting, with additional information available for these settings.
There is separate guidance for those working in health and social care settings. The guidance came into effect on 24 February and will be updated on 1 April.

COVID-19 vaccination: spring booster
The UK Health Security Agency has updated its guidance (16 March) on the spring COVID-19 booster offer for those aged 75 years, and older residents in care homes.
- Adults aged 75 years and over
- Residents in care homes for older adults
- People aged 12 years and over who have a weakened immune system
Appointments will be available through the national vaccination booking service shortly. Download the guide (available in a number of different languages), or you can access paper copies which are available free to order.
