An update on the south west London vaccination programme from NHS South West London CCG:
To ensure that the vaccination programme is able to match availability of
vaccine to the required vaccinations per site, it is essential that Health
and Care workers return to the place where they received their first
vaccine for the second dose.
If you have not been given your second dose date by your original
provider, please contact them direct to confirm your second dose
appointment.
We are aware that appointments are being offered by GPs to some
health and social care workers who were vaccinated elsewhere, and
these are sometimes occurring prior to your second dose being due.
Please do not accept a second dose vaccine at a different site. This will
lead to a wastage of vaccine in hospital hubs and potentially a shortage
of vaccine in primary care. This is particularly important where the Pfizer
vaccine has been given as there are restrictions on moving this.
In exceptional cases you may be eligible to receive a second dose at an
alternative site. In this instance discuss with the lead contact in your
area.
Currently the green book states that second doses should be given between four and twelve weeks after the first dose. The government mandate is that they are given between 11 and 12 weeks after the first dose.
The first clinics for staff eligible for the 12 week second dose are commencing from the 6 March.
For any staff who booked using self-booking links at hospital hubs or clinics, second doses are automatically booked. For staff who booked at Primary Care Network sites, the local PCN team should be in touch to arrange the second appointment.
Please be aware that for a small number of sites there have been changes in the methods of booking and so we need to gather more information for those staff who went to:
- The Wilson Hospital – all clinic dates.
- Nonsuch – 23 December clinic.
- Valley Park – to confirm details
For any staff who attended those clinics for their first dose, please complete the form as soon as possible to help schedule the second dose.
Any enquiries for second doses for other clinics can be sent to:
