Sex, sexuality, intimate relationships guidance for older people in care homes

The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) has issued guidance that has been developed to help nurses and care staff work effectively with issues of sexuality, intimate relationships, sexual expression and sex, particularly for older people living in care homes.

National Safeguarding Fire Safety 2021: 18 November

The Council is requesting all supporting living providers arrange for their staff to attend this important safety event, which will look at fire risks in the home – how are we doing in Sutton?, and what can we do to better safeguard vulnerable adults?

Deadline for staff vaccinations approaches

The change in regulation in the Health Act to make vaccination a condition of deployment from 11th November 2021, comes into effect very soon. Thanks again to those homes who have already achieved the target and we will continue to work alongside homes which have not. Vaccine information is included below.

Webinar: COVID-19 medical exemptions for care home workers

An online webinar, also relevant to volunteers, will include information on the public health aims of making vaccination a condition of deployment (VCoD) in care homes, the CQC enforcement approach, and workforce issues.

The session is scheduled for Wednesday 20 October at 9.30-10.30am. A previous VCoD guidance webinar can be viewed here.

A letter from DHSC’s Claire Armstrong, Director of Adult Social Care Delivery and COVID-19 Response, providing further details on exemptions, including self-certification, has been sent to care colleagues and local authorities.
