Supporting Care Homes to remain safe through winter

As a follow up to the Supporting our Care Homes to remain safe submission to the Department for Health & Social Care, we have produced a follow up report Supporting our Care Homes to remain safe through Winter which provides:

• An update on what the Sutton system and our care homes have done together to support care homes to remain safe
• A description of additional support that will be provided during winter

The detailed document covers oversight and compliance, infection prevention control, clinical support, testing, staffing, financial support, and future planning.

In Sutton, our response to COVID-19 has been built on the foundation of partnerships between the NHS and Care Homes, which has been nurtured and strengthened over years of working together to build a stable, sensitive and supportive care offer. The system has continued to provide a combined response, overseen by the Sutton Health and Care Executive, which includes the London Borough of Sutton (LBS), NHS Sutton Borough Team (NHSS), Sutton Health & Care Alliance (health and care providers) and the community and voluntary sector.

In addition to all the work highlighted in Supporting our Care Homes to remain safe, since June we have also:

• Provided over £1.6m to support Infection Control with a further £2m by the end of March 2021
• Enhanced the offer from our Care Home Support Team.
• Supported Homes to manage COVID-19 outbreaks.
• Launched a new information Hub for providers – Sutton Care Hub.
